Artemisszió Foundation
Staff involved to Divercity:Artemisszió Foundation (http://www.artemisszio.hu) is a Hungarian based independent private non profit organisation since 1998. Its mission is to encourage continuous dialogue and interaction between culturally, ethnically and socially diverse groups and to foster their mutual understanding. It has a staff of 11 permanent employees. The NGO is supporting the social integration of socially and culturally disadvantaged groups through developing and conducting intercultural training courses, educational materials and methods, integration projects and mobility projects for youth. We have several accredited trainings for teachers and social workers. Besides the professionals of the social sector we also provide services for migrants, asylum seekers and refugees. Some of the tools we use have been developed by ourselves. We are providing intercultural training for the teachers, organising workshops for the children and we are conducting an “intercultural audit”, an overall scanning of the school’s practices in view of fostering intercultural learning. The method of critical incidents that we used with social workers, teachers, migrants, refugees, roma, youth groups aims to analyze the various situations of our everyday lives from a different point of view, to develop the awareness, to empower them to understand others and to cooperate with them. The Forum Theatre methodology that we adapted for different targets (e.g. migrants, roma) also offers a different approach about their experiences fostering to use a big variety of skills, competences and attitudes they own and also to cooperate with people in their environment. Artemisszió also works together with elementary schools and their pupils, among them migrants and roma, intercultural issues, problem resolution and awareness-raising. We also elaborated a mentor program for them, to foster their integration into the majority society. Another type of project we have been working on for a long time is the mobility of disadvantaged young people.
